Facebook Wall Spam - WTF??
For those of you who use Facebook (and I won't get into the discussion here and now as to whether it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and/or the worst plague to hit the earth since the locusts way back when), I saw something highly unusual that I wanted to pass along.I got a notice that one of my friends (Lauren Cooney) had posted something on another friend's (Ed Brill) wall.
Generally, no big deal.
But, in this case, it sounded fishy.
First off, Lauren just isn't the type to say "Yo" (hey, I could be wrong, you know kids these days, but I seriously doubt it). Secondly, I can't imagine her being interested in sending Ed to a ringtone site, and more importantly, a site that is so obviously a come-on. There is evidence on her Facebook page that a similar (identical, actually) post had been made on several of her friends sites.
Here's the notice I got:
Incidentally, that IS the way the URL was shown. But, when you hovered over it the correct URL was there. This HAS to be Spam of some sort. Facebook Wall Spam.
Congrats, Lauren and Ed. You're the first. I hope Chris Byrne is all over this!
So, just be aware .... yet another new chapter in the "be careful out there" book.
